Fuzzy House wants to get children to play and use their imagination. It is an app where children play happily, not driven by a quest for levels and points, but just enjoy the open-ended play. The idea for Fuzzy House occurred after talking about what was lacking in the market of apps for young kids. There was a desire to bring more free play into the children’s digital world.
During the development of the app I took care of the concept art and prototypes for in-app games. I also helped designing the minimal UI, character animations and game art. The biggest challenge for this app was to make the user experience very intuitive and simple, as it needed to be easy to use for kids of every nationality and as young as 4. The playtests gave us useful insights on how to modify and evolve the interface in order to arrive to a good compromise between functionality and clarity. I made the animations with Unity, while most of the concept art and user flows were made in Photoshop and Sketch.Due to the small capacity of the studio I got to follow many different aspects of the development, from early playtests with kids to editing of videos for the final release.
Fuzzy House won the “Educational Spilprisen Award 2017” and has been nominated “Best Fun for Everyone” at the Nordic Games Awards.
